Parents' Time Out RSVPs Due - Jan. 27

Parents’ Time Out is on 2/4 at 6:30PM at Makray Memorial Golf Club.  This is the largest PTO fundraiser of the year and we need your support.  The party includes both live and silent auctions, dinner, cash bar and live music from Exit 147.  Reserve your spot at this year’s party; registration deadline is Fri., 1/27.  Talk to your friends and bid on one of the exciting live auction items: One Week Stay in Log Cabin on Lake Redstone, WI, Court-Side Bulls Ultimate Experience – four tickets on 2/16, Portrait Session including three 12"x17" Prints, Party on the River – 10 Adults, Solstice Dinner – 12 Adults, Take Me Out to the Ballgame – four 8th row Cubs tickets 4/24 or 4/25 includes PA announcer booth visit, plus autographed ball, Chicago Luxury Weekend Getaway at the Elysian Hotel, Wine Tasting Dinner and Tasting Party, Singing with the Band and P.E. Girls on the Run Registration Due - Jan. 30
Attention girls grades 3-5!  Sign up sheets came home last week for the 2012 Hough Street Girls on the Run team.  The program starts 3/7, runs 12 weeks and culminates in a fantastic 5K run on 6/2.  Participants meet from 3:15 - 5:00PM on Wednesdays and will have another optional run day (exact day/time tbd).  Practices will consist of topical discussions around health and wellness and of course training toward running a 5K.  The cost is $165 for the season.  Contact sgourdie@ameritech.net for questions or to sign up.  The last day to sign up is January 30th.  

Read and Earn Free Tickets
Hough students can participate in the Read to Succeed program.  Be certain to pick up a reading log at the Hough front office or email Kim Emary emaryk@bellsouth.net for a copy.  It's not too late to start logging six hours to earn a free ticket to Six Flags.   Logs are due to the office by February 21.  For questions contact Kim Emary at emaryk@bellsouth.net.  

Battle of the Box Tops
The Box Tops contest is off to a great start! The boys are leading by just 100 Box Tops. Keep looking around the house and be certain to ask friends and relatives to pass along their Box Tops. The final day to turn in Box Tops for this contest will be 2/21. Who will earn the pajama day for the most Box Tops? For questions contact Kim Emary at emaryk@bellsouth.net. 

All School Pajama Day - Fri., Jan. 27
Student Council will be sponsoring a Pajama Day this Fri., 1/27.  Students are encouraged to join the fun and wear comfy, cozy jammies to school.  As always, students should come with snow gear and shoes for P.E.

Kindergarten Round-up - Wed., Feb. 15 6:30 - 7:30PM
All incoming (2012/2013 school year) Kindergarten parents are encouraged to attend the upcoming Kindergarten Round-up information session on Wed., 2/15 at 6:30PM in the Hough Auditorium.  Please bring two forms to prove residency (utility bill, tax bill, lease agreement) and the incoming students' birth certificate (original or notarized version - no photo copies please).  Please contact the Hough office with questions 847-381-1108.

Best Seat in the House - Fri., Feb. 10 at 6:30PM

BHS PTO Morningline - Thur., Feb. 2 at 9:15 - 11:15AM
On Thur. 2/2, best-selling author and nationally known speaker Dr. Yong Zhao will discuss whether Barrington 220 and U.S. schools are catching up or leading the way in the global education race.  Dr. Zhao will speak first during the free BHS PTO Morningline program in the high school auditorium from 9:15 to 11:00AM, followed by an 11:30AM luncheon at the Garlands of Barrington for business and community leaders hosted by the Barrington Rotary clubs. The first event with Dr. Zhao is free; the later luncheon costs $15 per person. RSVPs for events on both dates are kindly requested in advance by visiting www.barrington220.org/rsvp.

New Yoga Classes Beginning across from Hough - Wednesday AM/PM
Beginning 2/1, Salem Methodist Preschool will begin offering yoga classes for adults on Wednesday mornings from 9:15 to 10:30AM and Wednesday afternoons from 12:45 to 2:00PM.  Drop-ins are welcome.  Classes are taught by Kim Holland, certified yoga teacher, and Hough parent.  Child care is available for younger siblings.  For more information, contact Kim at kimwholland@hotmail.com or Salem Preschool Director, Cindy Schaefer at salemmethodistpreschool@yahoo.com.
